Powercity Participates on Basic Occupational Safety and Health Seminar

Powercity sent two of its technical staff for a 40-hour training on Basic Occupational Safety & Health Seminar (BOSH) conducted by First Safety Systems Training Services duly accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC). The seminar was held on October 18-22, 2010 at the Philippines Business for Social Progress Building in Intramuros, Manila.

The seminar encompass mandatory rules on occupational safety and health promulgated pursuant to Article 162, book IV of the Labor Code of the Philippines which aimed at protecting man against the dangers of injury, sickness or death thru safe working conditions. Participants from Powercity, Joe Noveloso and Nelson Punzalan received trainings on fundamentals of safety management, basic work accident causation and theories, hazards recognition, assessment and control, industrial hygiene, occupational health hazards, materials handling and storage, electrical safety, control of hazardous energy, fire safety, job hazard analysis, personal protective equipment, emergency preparedness, safety inspection, accident investigation, behavior motivation, effective communication, trainer's training techniques, safety programming, occupational health programming, and re-entry plan.

The seminar was conducted by Engr. Virgilio M. Florendo, a duly accredited Training Safety Consultant by the DOLE/BWC and Mr. Fermin A. Del Rosario, President of the First Safety Systems Training Services.
