10-10-10 (October 10, 2010) marked the grand opening of the new Powercity Electromechanical & Equipment Co. Ltd. in Quanzhou Export Processing Zone, Fujian, China.

The grand opening was attended by guests and visitors from the Philippines including corporate representatives from Globe Telecom, Digitel & Sun Cellular, Goldtown Industrial Sales, Alano & Sons, Citra Mina, Nippon Engineering and Chiba Industrial Sales. Also present in the event are local suppliers in China such as Yuchai Machineries, Beijing Bergey, Yuasa, Powercity employees and other distinguished guests.

The main event of the opening ceremony was conducted by no other than the Corporate President, Mr. Wilson Lua and the Vice-President of the Overseas Chinese Federation, Ms. Wang Qiao Li.

Mr. Lua delivered his inaugural speech describing the importance of the new factory other than the existing old factory in Laicuo Industrial Zone in Jinjiang City. According to him the new factory was formed in April 2009 to better meet the high quality standards in manufacturing and yield more quantities of products to deliver worldwide. At present Powercity delivers its products in more than 19 countries. The 3.2 hectare new factory will open jobs for the local citizens and eventually symbolize progress for the town of Quanzhou. It will also become an advocate of renewable energy solutions by demonstrating and promoting solar and wind power systems, Mr. Lua added.

The celebration was followed by visitors’ tour in the production line, tea break and luncheon at the Grand Honor Hotel and Restaurant.
